The European Integration Office stated today that if a referendum were to be held tomorrow with the question "Do you support Serbia's accession to the EU?" 50% of Serbia’s citizens would vote yes, 24% would be against, 19% would not vote, while eight per cent do not know what they would answer.
These are the results of this year's first poll "European orientation of Serbia's citizens – the trends", which the European Integration Office conducted in early July this year.
The survey conducted according to Standard Eurobarometer, which included 1,050 respondents over the age of 18, shows that the current level of citizen support to the EU is as much as 9% higher than in the previous survey.
This increased level of support to the EU integration process is because citizens now see concrete positive steps in addressing issues that influence their daily lives, and because the EU evaluates those reforms as successful, which it demonstrated by the 28 June decision of the European Council to allow the start of accession negotiations for our country.
