The statement issued by the Office says that the Action Plan, which was adopted in February this year, envisages the purchase of 30 rural homes under the programme "Technical Support to the Office for Human and Minority Rights in the implementation of the Strategy for improving the position of Roma", implemented by the OSCE Mission with the financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).
The participants in the meeting addressed some of the issues related to the sustainability of the said housing model, its effective implementation and potential limitations, and also offered solutions that will be analysed in the continuation of the consultation process to ensure that all Roma families get a sustainable housing solution and a proper integration into the local and the wider community.
The meeting was attended by Director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights Suzana Paunovic and representatives of the Serbian Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy, the City of Belgrade, Serbian Housing Agency, National Council of the Roma national minority, Delegation of the EU to Serbia, UNOPS, Office of the Permanent Representative of the UN in Serbia, OSCE Mission and the Danish Refugee Council, it is added in the statement.
