Sustainable solution needed for Kosovo-Metohija

Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica spoke today with Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo-Metohija Pascal Fieschi and pointed to the lack of respect for essential human rights in the province.

Kostunica said that Serbs and other non-Albanians in Kosovo-Metohija do not have freedom of movement and live in constant fear and he called for additional institutional guarantees for Serbs and other non-Albanians.
Kostunica stressed that a solution for Kosovo-Metohija must be a sustainable one and he added that disintegration is unacceptable in the European integration process.
Fieschi, whose three-year term in Kosovo-Metohija ends this month, pointed to the importance of democratic standards, most of which are concerned with human rights, the OSCE’s main goal.
He said that the progress in meeting standards in Kosovo-Metohija will have to be monitored for a long time and he stressed that human rights of Serbs and other non-Albanians must be respected.
