The state ceremony was attended by survivors of death camps, members of the families of those killed, diplomatic representatives of Israel and Germany in Serbia.
The memorial ceremony was also attended by Head of EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert, representatives of the diplomatic corps, the City of Belgrade, the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia and the Council of the Roma national minority.
The Remembrance Day for the victims of the Holocaust and other genocide victims of fascism was established in memory of 22 April 1945, when a group of inmates tried to break out of the Jasenovac concentration camp in Croatia. Of 1,075 prisoners, only 127 survived.
