At a press conference held after the meeting with the UNICEF delegation, she said that the cooperation between the Ministry of Health and other institutions and non-governmental organisations with UNICEF gave positive results.
The Minister said that today's talks were dedicated to children who have problems with mental and physical development, as well as children from poor areas, Roma children and children of refugees.
She highlighted the practice in Serbia that children under three cannot live in institutions.
According to her, special attention was paid to Roma women mediators, who are the bridge between the Roma community and health care institutions in Serbia.
The Minister said that future cooperation between Serbia and UNICEF should be of the same intensity, but with new objectives.
Chair of the UNICEF Executive Board Jarmo Viinanen pointed out that the only purpose of UNICEF is promotion and exercise of children’s rights.
Vinanen praised the work of the Ministry of Health on promoting children's rights, noting that these efforts should be continued.
