Minister of Health Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic talked today with regional director of the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia Werner Haug and UNFPA regional director for the Western Balkans Doina Bologa.

The Ministry of Health states that Djukic-Dejanovic expressed satisfaction with cooperation between the UNFPA and the Ministry of Health, given the shared goals and values, above all solidarity and equality in health care, in accordance with the guidelines of European health policy based on the concept "Health in all policies".

The Minister of Health informed the guests about the activities of the Ministry of Health in implementing the National screening programme, population policy, improving healthcare for the Roma population, as well as taking care of the oldest citizens.

Haug said that reproductive health care is one of the important activities of the UNFPA, and announced the possibility of opening new fields of cooperation and development.

Bologa emphasiaed the importance of cooperation between the UNFPA, government agencies and non-governmental sector, and offered professional technical support in the field of demographic research, and improving the reproductive health of women.

The officials recognised the importance of regional cooperation in addressing issues relating to health care, the statement added.
