Sulejman Ugljanin and Nabi Avci
During the second day of the session of the Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation between Serbia and Turkey, Ugljanin underlined that this cooperation is possible thanks to the Bilateral agreement on cooperation in the field of infrastructure at the local, regional and national level, which was signed in 2009.
He said that a great space for the development of cooperation exists in the field of entrepreneurship, especially after the signing of the Memorandum between the National Agency for Regional Development of Serbia and Turkish Organisation for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (KOSGEB).
Minister of Education and Science of Turkey Nabi Avci said that Serbia is an important economic partner of Turkey, adding that economic cooperation should be reinforced, bearing in mind the good geographical position of both countries.
Avci said that the two countries have intensive and good diplomatic relations, noting that the abolition of visas created a positive climate.
According to him, the bilateral and economic cooperation between the two countries have improved since the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and Turkey.
He recalled that there are 15 Turkish companies operating in Serbia that have so far invested more than $110 million, while 80 Serbian companies operate in Turkey, where they invested $ 35 million.
Avci said he expects more Serbian companies in Turkey, and said that Turkish and Serbian companies should be encouraged for a joint appearance on third markets.
Ugljanin and Avci reached an agreement that there is a great potential for cooperation in the tourism sector, as well as in other areas, noting that the cooperation should be raised to a higher level, according to a statement.
