The increase of violence at sporting events requires a resolute and coordinated action of state institutions and sport associations.
Also, it was agreed that penal policy should be made stricter towards perpetrators of violence and the courts should be more efficient in processing criminal offences in that field.
The state will soon set up special prosecutor’s offices and court departments that will prosecute violators at sporting events and will launch an initiative for change of laws and other acts so as to speed up trials against these persons.
Among other things, the major influence of organised crime groups who abuse the fans must be eliminated.
A package of preventive measures within sports federations and the education system is being prepared, which would establish a permanent system of elimination of violence at sporting events.
Minister of Youth and Sports Alisa Maric required a centralised and synchronised cooperation of the Ministry of the Interior, the prosecution, the judiciary and sports associations in each incident and in preventive measures.
