Dinkic said that this is the first major project of public-private partnership in the field of tourism, and its realisation will drive the development of the entire region, especially of the underdeveloped municipality of Brus.
He said the goal is to improve the tourist and ski infrastructure and explained that the company Leitner will invest in a gondola that will connect Brzece and Kopaonik, as well as in a new cable car system, path and the installation for artificial snow.
The total investment is €25 million, of which approximately €15 million will be allocated for the construction of the gondola, the Minister explained, adding that the state will provide land and water for artificial snow, and the rest will be invested by the Italian partner.
This is a good example of cooperation, because in this way we develop the underdeveloped municipality of Brus, he said.
According to him, the development of infrastructure in Kopaonik will make this mountain become more accessible to the citizens of Serbia and accommodation will be cheaper.
The Minister said that Serbia will get to date the longest path that would go from the top of Kopaonik all the way to Brus, and it will be suitable for all categories of skiers.
The Minister said that the Leitner is one of the two major international companies involved in the construction of the gondola lift, and added that the company, which has an annual turnover of €800 million, estimated that Kopaonik offers many opportunities for recreation and development of tourism.
He said that the signing of this memorandum is important for the tourism sector in Serbia which has annual revenues of approximately $1 billion, while JP Ski Resorts of Serbia generated an income of €3.5 million per year.
Kopaonik ski resort has more than 50 kilometres of trails for alpine skiing and 12 kilometres of trails for cross-country skiing. All paths are connected by a system of 24 lifts.
