Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic said today in a meeting with Secretary General of the Regional Cooperation Council Goran Svilanovic that Serbia is strongly committed to developping regional cooperation.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Mrkic said that Serbia supports the activities and the role that Council in implementation and promotion of the project-oriented cooperation in areas of common regional interest.
The two officials agreed on the need for further stimulus for economic development through regional activities.
Svilanovic expressed confidence that the pace of economic cooperation will get the intensity after the adoption of the strategy and the work programme of the Council for the period 2014-2016, as well as the strategy for Southeast Europe 2020.
He also stressed the importance of involvement of the Council in the positioning of countries in the region in relation to the EU and maintaining continuous dialogue with representatives of EU institutions, the statement added.
