The goal of the visit are preliminary negotiations regarding implementation of project of the Belgrade-Thessaloniki navigation channel, which should connect via waterways Serbia, Macedonia and Greece with Central Europe, the Danube countries and the rest of the world.
The implementation of this important project, apart from linking the above-mentioned countries via waterways, would create conditions for Serbia’s development in the field of transport and energy. The construction of irrigation systems on shores of the River Morava would improve conditions for the development of agriculture and the economy as a whole, the statement issued by the Ministry says.
The Ministry is prepared to complete all the documentation for the spatial plan of the area by mid 2013 and to make a forecast of all infrastructural facilities on the waterway in question.
During Bacevic’s visit to Beijing, the preparation of a draft protocol on understanding with the Chinese state company China Gezhouba Group Corporation will be discussed.
On the basis of the draft protocol, a feasibility study will be made, as well as serious analyses, investigations and research of the possibility of development and implementation of this project, reads the statement.
