Viviane Reding and Vladimir Bozovic
The talks focused on the judicial reform in Serbia in the light of the fight against corruption that has been launched, and on establishing closer cooperation with Europol and Eurojust.
In order to promote international cooperation between Serbia and these two very important European institutions, Bozovic, who is in charge of international cooperation and control of the police, met with Director of Europol Rob Wainwright and President of Eurojust Michele Coninsx.
During the two days of the plenary meeting, Bozovic spoke about Serbia’s progress in the field of home affairs and judiciary, with a special emphasis on the first results achieved in the fight against corruption and organised crime and the need for this fight to be continued through the strengthening of institutions and a systemic approach, in which a national strategy for the fight against corruption, currently in preparation, will play a special role.
During the meeting Bozovic also spoke with Hungarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Tibor Navracsics, and with the ministers of justice of Denmark, Austria, Sweden and Latvia.
On this occasion, Bozovic underlined the importance of mutual cooperation, especially regional, in the fight against corruption and organised crime, and in the improvement of bilateral contractual regulations in this area.
The conference will be closed today afternoon with a work presentation, it is added in the statement.
