This pre-contract refers exclusively to the companies owned by the Republic of Serbia, apart from Gazdinstvo 7 Juli that belongs to the Agricultural Corporation of Belgrade (PKB), where the co-signatory of the agreement on joint investment is the Mayor of Belgrade, and the agreement was also confirmed by the Belgrade City Assembly.
The only land leased to Al Dahra is the 2,500 hectares that had been used by Gazdinstvo 7 Juli from Surcin.
All the remaining land that has been used so far on lease, including the 16,500 hectares that have been used by the conglomerates included in the pre-contract with Al Dahra, will be given for lease only to farmers in Vojvodina, and not to the company from the United Arab Emirates.
Also, the remaining eight conglomerates form the so-called green pull, which are not included in the pre-contract with Al Dahra, will be offered for sale to Serbian agricultural producers, and the Serbian government will offer them maximum assistance.
In addition, since company Al Dahra has a developed trade network all around the world, it will be the buyer of surplus agricultural products, which will allow farmers to have better prices and payment security, and will enable Serbia to increase export of agricultural products.
The pre-contract with Al Dahra will come into force only after the signing and ratification of the bilateral agreement between Serbia and the United Arab Emirates, which is in full compliance with the applicable regulations of the Republic of Serbia.
The Serbian government believes that such behaviour of the provincial government, which is aimed at rejecting foreign investments and preventing modernisation of Serbian agriculture, is irresponsible and frivolous.
With such actions and statements the government of Vojvodina directly threatens the lives and the standard of living of its citizens, but also of entire Serbia, which the Serbian government will not allow, reads the statement.
