Intensive measures to restore normal water supply in Čačak, Gornji Milanovac, Lučani, Požega

Belgrade, 28 May 2026

Prime Minister Professor Đuro Macut, MD, DSc, chaired an extraordinary session today of the Emergency Response Team following a major incident on the Rzav main water pipeline in Gorobilje, which disrupted water supply in the Moravica District and left more than 200,000 consumers in Čačak, Gornji Milanovac, Lučani and Požega without water.

The session reviewed the situation caused by the rupture of the main pipeline, as well as activities underway to repair the fault and ensure the provision of non-potable water for the population. The relevant services, local self-government units and public utility companies were instructed to take maximum measures and deploy all available capacities in order to mitigate the consequences of the incident as quickly as possible.

It was stated at the session that all relevant services are in continuous coordination and that intensive measures are being implemented in order to restore the supply of non-potable water in the shortest possible timeframe and, following water quality control, drinking water as well.

The Prime Minister also instructed the Emergency Response Team to continue monitoring the situation on the ground so that, through the coordination of all relevant services, the consequences of the incident can be eliminated as quickly as possible and normal water supply to citizens restored.
