Minister of Justice and Public Administration Nikola Selakovic held today a meeting with British Ambassador to Serbia Michael Davenport and Ambassador of the Netherlands to Serbia Laurent Stokvis to discuss the legal status of the protection of whistleblowers.

The Ministry of Justice said that Selakovic presented the ambassadors with the drafting of the national strategy to combat corruption.
He pointed out that the protection of whistleblowers is of great importance for the establishment of an effective system to combat corruption.
Also, the Minister of Justice and Public Administration emphasised the importance of raising awareness among the experts and citizens on the role of whistleblowers in the fight against systemic corruption.
He said that we must put an end to penalising whistleblowers by employers and that we need to strengthen cooperation with non-governmental organisations involved in the fight against corruption.
The ambassadors of Great Britain and the Netherlands emphasised the need to join all the institutions in this area in order to protect the status of whistleblowers.
Selakovic said that the Ministry of Justice and Public Administration will support the activities of independent institutions in the fight against corruption, the statement added.
