SAJ important factor in fight against terrorism, organised crime

Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic congratulated today members of the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (SAJ) the Day of this unit and said that with its work this unit demonstrated that Serbia can compare with other countries in this field.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the Day of the SAJ at the unit’s base in Batajnica, Dacic stated that the Serbian government wishes that there are no conflicts anymore and that citizens of our country live in peace and prosperity, safe and secure.
SAJ was formed in 1978, when the world had problems with terrorism, he recalled.
We are aware that there are still dangers and challenges which is why it is necessary that there are units such as the SAJ, which are maximally prepared to confront threats, primarily terrorism and organised crime, the Prime Minister said.
At the SAJ base Dacic laid a wreath at the monument to fallen members of the unit, after which members of the SAJ were presented with recognitions and labels of the unit, as well as awards for ten and twenty years of service in the unit and the excellent results achieved in 2012.
The ceremony was attended by police officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps, Princess Elizabeta Karadjordjevic and numerous guests.
