The Serbian government announced that by bringing acquittal for one of the commanders of the terrorist "Kosovo Liberation Army" Ramush Haradinaj, the Hague tribunal has inflicted a severe blow to international justice and put a major obstacle to reconciliation in the region.
The statement said that the judgment is an amnesty for horrible crimes and ethnic cleansing in Kosovo-Metohija and legitimises the desecration of justice and witness intimidation.
Ramush Haradinaj's release encourages extremists and questions the basic objectives of the international missions in Kosovo-Metohija.
This verdict opens the question of whether the international community wants to investigate the crimes, punish the culprits and initiate a process of reconciliation, or wants to keep the region in a state of permanent crisis.
The Serbian government estimates that selective justice and covering up crimes will not lead to stability, the statement added.
