Mrkic and Peres discussed the relations between the two countries, which are friendly, as they concluded.
The two officials also talked about dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, stressing that Israel has not recognised Kosovo's independence.
Mrkic said in a statement to Tanjug news agency that in a one-hour conversation with Peres he expressed his assessment of the developments in the region and the world at large and the general development prospects.
I conveyed friendly greetings from Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and stressed his readiness to visit Jerusalem, at the invitation of the President of Israel, said Mrkic.
We are fully agree that Serbia and Israel have, consequently, strong relationships and excellent cooperation. I presented Serbia’s aims in domestic and foreign policy, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Mrkic said that Peres spoke about the history of the Serbian people and his personal relations with Belgrade and Serbia.
Peres said that Serbia has very talented young people and scientists, which make the principal value and the support of every nation that wants to be relevant in the future, said Mrkic.
I also presented him with the talks between Belgrade and Pristina, especially because Israel deserves our respect because it did not recognise the so-called Republic of Kosovo, concluded Mrkic.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic will pay a working visit to Israel on 12-13 November, during which he and Israeli President Shimon Peres.
Further strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation between the two friendly countries will be discussed.
Mrkic will also will meet with Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman and will visit the Holocaust Museum "Yad Vashem".
