Minister of Health Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic talked today with Director-General of the Directorate for Enlargement Stefano Sannino, who said that the funds allocated for health care are among the most important ones and expressed satisfaction with the good cooperation between the EU and the Ministry.
The Ministry said that Sannino expressed satisfaction with the continuing cooperation with Djukic-Dejanovic as the new minister of health, given that this cooperation began in the period when she served as Serbian parliament Speaker.
The officials pointed out that the Ministry of Health since 2000 to date has used significant grants from the CARDS and IPA funds.
The Minister pointed out that the activities have been intensified on the project of reconstruction of four clinical centres, the application of capitation formula in health community centres was introduced, a screening program for the three most common malignant tumours in Serbia was launched, as well as a palliative care programme.
Two significant projects that began this year and are financed from IPA funds refer to support to de-institutionalisation of people with mental disabilities, as well as to the continuation of implementation of integrated health information system in health care facilities.
Djukic-Dejanovic expressed her satisfaction with the fact that the Regional centre for accreditation and improvement of the quality of health care in southeastern Europe, with headquarters in Belgrade, was set up in October.
