Serbia advocates further improvement of relations with US

Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic said today in an interview with the new Ambassador of the United States to Serbia Michael Kirby that Serbia is ready for cooperation and further promotion of relations with that country.

Mrkic welcomed Kirby and wished him success on his function in Serbia and informed him about Belgrade’s position regarding the current issues of bilateral relations, the process of European integration, improving relations in the Western Balkans, the issue of Kosovo-Metohija and other questions of mutual interest.
Kirby said that the relations between Serbia and the United States are based on the overall good historical basis, and expressed confidence that they will continue to be promoted.
He expressed readiness to make a personal contribution to that in the capacity of ambassador and added that one of the priorities in the work of the US Embassy in Belgrade is attracting investments from the United States to Serbia, reads a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
