Minister of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection Zorana Mihajlovic stated today during the talks with Deputy Director of the Directorate for Energy of the European Commission Fabrizio Barbaso and Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Slavtcho Neykov that Serbia pays special attention to energy safety of the region.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert, Mihajlovic presented Serbia’s priorities during its presidency over the Energy Community in 2013.
These priorities are regional interconnections of gas and electricity, defining a regional energy strategy and setting priorities.
The Minister pointed out that social aspect of the energy policy is very important, which is reflected in the concern for consumers and the development of social cards for the underprivileged.
Participants in the meeting also discussed the implementation of European directives and preparations for the meeting of the Ministerial Council of the European Community which will be held on 18 October in Budva this year.
The Deputy Director of the Directorate for Energy of the European Commission and the Director of the Energy Community Secretariat backed the priorities presented by Mihajlovic, reads the statement issued by the Ministry of Energy, Development and Environmental Protection.
