Today in Brussels Selakovic met with European Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Fule and European Commission Director General for Enlargement Stefano Sannino.
He said that the three main goals of his Ministry must be realised within a short period, and these are to reinstate the judges and prosecutors who were not re-elected and reintegrate them in the Serbian judiciary, to resolve the large number of unsolved cases verging on the statute of limitations and to change the current network of courts and prosecutors.
The Minister said that the State Prosecutorial Council and the High Judicial Council must set clearly defined criteria for evaluation of newly-appointed judges and prosecutors, strengthen the disciplinary responsibility of judges and prosecutors, as well as strengthen the mechanisms for evaluation and disciplinary responsibilities.
In addition to the state of the judiciary, a key theme of the meeting was the fight against systemic corruption and organised crime, said Selakovic.
He pointed out that our country has received support from the EU to strengthen mechanisms for combating organised crime and corruption.
