Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Mrkic and Japan's Parliamentary Senior Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ryuji Yamane agreed today that it is necessary to continue improving cooperation between the two countries, especially in the field of the economy.
Mrkic thanked Japan for the assistance it has offered to Serbia so far, especially for a soft loan in Japanese yens approved for the project of flue-gas desulfurisation in Nikola Tesla thermal power station.
He welcomed the fact that Japan is considering granting an additional loan for the project of wastewater treatment in Belgrade.
The Minister expressed satisfaction that the Yamane came to visit Belgrade at the time when 130 years since the establishment of bilateral relations between Serbia and Japan are being marked.
Yamane conveyed assurances that Japan will continue to provide assistance to Serbia and expressed the hope that it will contribute to increasing employment and improving the economic situation, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
