“Please accept my congratulations and those of the Australian Government and people on your appointment as Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia.
Our two countries share a friendly and growing bilateral relationship. I am pleased you had an opportunity to visit Australia earlier this year and strengthened our cooperation by concluding a Memorandum of Understanding on Combating Transnational Crime and Development of Police Cooperation during your visit.
Australia is committed to working with Serbia in multilateral fora and I appreciate Serbia’s support for Australia’s candidature for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council in 2013-2014. I am delighted Australia was able to support the election of Serbia’s former foreign minister, Vuk Jeremic, as president of the upcoming 67th session of the UN General Assembly.
Australia was pleased to see Serbia achieve European Union candidacy status in December 2011 and I wish your country well on the path to the European Union membership.
Please accept my best wishes for your prime membership. I look forward to working with you as the relationship between our two countries continues to prosper into the future”, reads the letter of congratulations by the Australian Prime Minister.
