Interior ministry sends aid to Greece in putting out Mt Athos fires

The Ministry of the Interior stated that the large fire in the pine forests and the undergrowth on Mt Athos in Greece poses a serious threat to Chilandar monastery.
The statement adds that in order to stop the fire, the Ministry has contacted Greece offering help and has placed at Greece’s disposal the capacity of the Serbian Sector for Emergency Situations with its fire brigades and rescue units, as well as the Russian helicopter Ka 32, currently stationed in Nis for pre-emptive reasons and for putting out fires in Serbia and the region.
