After visiting the construction works on the above-mentioned sections, Mrkonjic told Tanjug news agency that the works are being performed at full capacity and praised the work of local contractors who work on the Ub – Lajkovac section and of the Azerbaijani company Azvirt that builds the motorway from Ljig to Preljina.
He specified that Corridor 11 is to connect Romania, Serbia, Montenegro and Italy through the route Timisoara - Belgrade - Bar - Bari, noting that the section Ub - Lajkovac, 12.7 kilometres long, is part of the future motorway to Montenegro.
The Minister said that on this section, which is financed from the state budget, 13 bridges will be built, of which five big ones that will be between 100 and 500 meters long, an intersection near Lajkovac and follow-up facilities, and the works are carried out by the companies "Putevi Uzice" and "Planum ".
According to him, Serbia received a €300 million loan from the government of Azerbaijan for the construction of the section from Ljig to Preljina, at a fixed interest rate of four percent to 15 years and a grace period of three years, while €8 million will be provided by Serbia.
Mrkonjic explained that the route consists of three sections: Ljig - Boljkovci, Boljkovci - Takovo and Takovo - Preljina, adding that the main contractor is the Azerbaijani company Azvirt, while about half of work will be performed by local construction companies.
