The theme of this year's Accreditation Day is safe food and clean drinking water.
ATS Director Dejan Krnjaic said that the World Accreditation Day was established by the international organizations for accreditation, the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).
Krnjaic said that the Accreditation Board of Serbia signed a multilateral agreement (MLA) with the European Cooperation for Accreditation (EA) on the recognition of accreditation, which allowed the ATS to become a full member of ILAC.
He expressed appreciation to the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia and the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management for the assistance provided to ATS.
Head of the Department for European Integration at the EU Delegation to Serbia Frederikes Janmaat said that the MLA agreement will accelerate Serbia's European integration and will remove trade barriers, allowing free flow of goods and services, and reduce costs, and producers and consumers, and their access to European and world markets.
Also attending the meeting were Assistant Minister of Economy and Regional Development Jelena Popovic, Deputy Health Minister Marija Jevtic, an expert on the EU project "Strengthening Consumer Protection in Serbia," Tatjana Jovanic, and vice president of the PKS Vidosava Džagic, the statement said.
