The Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, Public Administration and Local Self-Government today stated that at the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections 38 polling stations will be opened in 22 countries.
Thanks to the new law and the introduction of the single electoral roll, the number of polling stations abroad will correspond to the number of our citizens there who have expressed their wish to vote and submitted a written request at Serbian diplomatic and consular offices.
For the previous parliamentary elections in 2008, 75 polling stations were opened in 42 states and only one third of registered voters abroad actually did so.
This is another positive effect of the recently introduced single electoral roll which, among other things, will help the state to save money, the statement adds.
