The government has recommended new energy rationalisation measures in conditions of extremely low temperatures, and called on the Ministry of Education and Science to suspend work in all educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the ministry until 17 February.
The government also recommended to all energy companies to invite all customers to rationalise energy consumption to prevent the possible power restrictions.
Local governments are recommended to rationalise the use of electricity for street lighting, illuminated signs and billboards.
The government advised public administration organs, courts, businesses and other legal entities, public enterprises and cultural and sports institutions to link the two non-working days of 15 and 16 February (Statehood Day) with the weekend so that Friday 17 February would also be a non-working day.
These measures were recommended based on the analysis of the situation in the country and the fact that extremely low temperatures are seriously threatening the energy system and energy supply in Serbia.
