Dacic said that the signing of this document is a continuation of the excellent cooperation between the police units of Serbia and Hungary, noting that there is a mutual desire to promote this cooperation.
He recalled that Serbia's border with Hungary is also its border with the EU, adding that the task of the police units of the two countries is to make this border impenetrable for illegal immigrants and very easily passable for citizens of our states.
Dacic noted that the police units of the two states have achieved good results in combating organised crime and the common policy of opposing illegal immigration and false asylum seekers.
The problem of illegal immigrants is present in other states as well, Dacic said adding that Serbia’s largest obstacle in solving this problem is the permeability of the border in southern Serbia and small capacity for temporarily accommodating persons arriving in Serbia through illegal channels.
He said that the agreement signed today will be implemented as soon as it is ratified by the two parliaments, adding that the joint office will be located on the Hungarian territory.
Pinter observed that the agreement is in the interest of both states and that it will facilitate border crossings for Serbian and Hungarian citizens, as well as open new possibilities for cooperation in other fields.
He announced that new border crossings will be opened on both land and rivers, which will increase cooperation in tourism.
