The Ministry of Health said that the representatives of the World Bank and the ministry talked with employees about the results achieved during project implementation.
The hospital was reconstructed, the quality of health care was improved, medical equipment was purchased and information system was introduced.
It was concluded that the General Hospital in Zrenjanin has become an example of modern and successful hospital thanks to the participation and support of the Ministry of Health and the World Bank, which will continue to support the health system in Serbia.
The project of development of health system in Serbia involved four general hospitals (Belgrade, Valjevo, Kraljevo and Vranje).
Through the project "Development of Health of Serbia" funds have been invested in the restructuring of four general hospitals in Serbia (Kraljevo, Valjevo, Vranje and Zrenjanin), which involved the reconstruction of facilities, investment in medical equipment, staff training and reorganisation of work.
Additional financing worth €10.5 million secured funds for the introduction of hospital information systems in 16 new facilities and improving information systems in the hospitals in Kraljevo, Valjevo, Vranje and Zrenjanin.
The plan is to connect all health facilities (approximately 360) into a single health information and communication network.
The project of additional funding involved 18 health institutions – Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, Clinical Centre of Serbia, Department of Surgery, Clinical Centre Kragujevac, Clinical Hospital Centre "Dr Dragisa Misovic - Dedinje", Institute for the health care of mother and the child "Dr Vukan Cupic", general hospitals in Zrenjanin, Kraljevo, Valjevo, Vranje, Vrbas, Smederevska Palanka, Aleksinac, Sremska Mitrovica, Sabac, Uzice, Pozarevac, Zajecar, Jagodina and Leskovac, the statement added.
