Reforms, strengthening operational, functional capabilities of Serbian Army continue in 2012

Minister of Defence Dragan Sutanovac and the newly appointed Serbian Army Chief-of-Staff Ljubisa Dikovic announced tonight that reforms as well as the strengthening of operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Army will continue next year.

The traditional reception for the upcoming New Year and Christmas holidays, organised by the Minister of Defence and the Chief-of-Staff , was also attended by previous chief-of-staff Miloje Miletic.
Sutanovac said that the year 2011 was full of great challenges for the defence system and the army.
We started the year with a fully professional army and we successfully completed it with a reform that is widely recognised as the best reform in this part of Europe, explained the Minister.
He announced new reforms in 2012 regarding pension and health funds, and added that more needs to be done to increase the operational level of the Serbian Army.
The reception was also attended by Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, ministers, representatives of legislative, executive and judicial authorities, diplomatic and military representatives accredited in our country, representatives of religious communities, public figures from the cultural and public life and media representatives, adds in a statement.
