A:

Drug and alcohol abuse prevention commission begins work

Belgrade, 20 January 2005

The Serbian Ministry of Health announced that the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Commission, established by the Serbian government in December last year, has started its work in the fields of prevention and treatment.

A meeting of this inter-ministerial commission was held yesterday at the Ministry of Health. The commission, headed by Minister of Health Tomica Milosavljevic, consists of representatives of the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Policy, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, as well as health institutions for drug and alcohol abuse prevention and treatment.

The task of the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Commission is to analyse and monitor this problem in Serbia, determine priority activities, create a state prevention program and establish cooperation with all those who take part in the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse in Serbia and in the region.
