Environmental action plan for NIS refineries in preparation

Serbian Minister of Science and Environmental Protection Aleksandar Popovic met today with representatives of the Energy and Mining Ministry and state oil company NIS to discuss ways to resolve environmental problems at NIS facilities.

By the end of the month NIS will have to submit an action plan for environmental protection at its refining facilities, with detailed urgent and short- and long-term measures in this field, it was agreed at the meeting.
Also, NIS pledged to continue the implementation of short-term measures to reduce the impact on the environment.
The action plan and concrete steps NIS is going to take in the field of environmental protection will be considered at the next meeting, due by the end of January.
