The Ministry of the Interior stated today that members of the Service for Combating Organised Crime and the Prosecutor’s Office for Organised Crime, in cooperation with the prosecution and the police of Canton Schwyz in Switzerland, found and seized in Belgrade two stolen paintings of Pablo Picasso.
The statement says that the paintings in question are “
Tete de cheval" (1962), oil on canvas, size: 73 x 60 centimetres and “
Verre et Pichet" (1944), oil on canvas, size: 27.2 x 35.2 centimetres.
The paintings were stolen in 2008 from the Centre of Culture “Seedamm” in Pfaffikon, Canton Schwyz, Switzerland, and their value is several million Swiss francs.
Members of the Service for Combating Organised Crime and competent Swiss authorities will continue the work on uncovering the perpetrators of this and all other crimes related to theft and smuggling of cultural goods, reads the statement by the Ministry of the Interior.
