First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Ivica Dacic and Macedonian Minister of the Interior Gordana Jankuloska signed an Agreement on the conditions of travel yesterday, envisaging that Serbian and Macedonian nationals can cross the border between the two countries with their ID cards only.
Following the signing of the Agreement in Ohrid, where he participated in an international conference “EU–Western Balkans – a justice and home affairs ministerial forum“, Dacic said that the document will facilitate travel to citizens of Serbia and Macedonia and at the same time further the relations between the two countries.
Jankuloska pointed out that states with good neighbourly relations can boost their cooperation and facilitate border procedures and at the same time maintain all the necessary security standards and prevent violations of the law.
Dacic and Jankuloska also signed a Protocol on the joint control of Goles–Golema Crcorija border crossing, intended for the population living within 30 kilometres from the border.
The Protocol envisages that Serbian and Macedonian border police will have a single office at the crossing and citizens will have only one check point when crossing the border.
Citizens living in this area will be able to cross the border with their biometric ID cards only, while children can go over with their health card or student’s booklet.
Goles–Golema Crcorija border crossing is located around 40 kilometres from Bosilegrad, near the three-border point of Serbia, Macedonia and Bulgaria.
