This year’s “Month of Serbian Culture” that will last until 14 October will include theatre plays, literary nights, programmes of classical music and artistic exhibitions.
During his stay in Hungary, Sreckovic will speak with State Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister of Hungary Laszlo Sazfavli about improvement of cooperation between the two countries regarding issues of the minorities in Hungary and Serbia, and about developing programmes for learning about customs, culture and history of the two peoples.
The Minister of Religion and Diaspora will also visit the headquarters of the Self-Government of Serbs in Hungary, Serbian school “Nikola Tesla”, pious endowment by Sava Tekelija “Tekelijanum“ and the seat of Budapest episcopate of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Sentandreja.
The Serbs in Hungary have the status of a national minority, and according to estimates by the Self-Government of Serbs, there are between 8,000 and 10,000 Serbs in Hungary.
