After the meeting with Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs Stavros Lambrinidis, Jeremic said that Serbia will continue to do its level best to become a candidate for EU membership.
We have already done a lot regarding this matter, but we must be aware that there is a possibility that this might not happen in December, he said and added that Serbia will continue to conduct policy in line with its goals.
Lambrinidis said that it would be fair that Serbia gets the candidate status for EU membership in December of this year, which will be supported by Greece.
Serbia's candidacy for EU membership would have significance for the stability of the region, he said.
The position of Greece on the Kosovo issue remains unchanged and Greece will not recognise the unilateral independence of Kosovo, he said and welcomed the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.
Kosovo is a European issue and requires a European solution. Europe needs to appreciate the constructive participation of Serbia, the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs stated.
Speaking about bilateral relations, he said that the ties between Serbia and Greece and strong and have lasted for decades.
