The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced today that the new Libyan authorities have transferred the five Serbian citizens arrested at the airport in Tripoli to the city of Zintan, some 150 km away from the capital, for security reasons.
Representatives of the new Libyan government expressed their full readiness to cooperate and announced the possibility that representatives of the Embassy of Serbia visit our citizens in upcoming days.
The Foreign Ministry contacted the families of the arrested today to obtain as much information about the circumstances of their departure and involvement in Libya.
The Ministry has also, through its diplomatic missions in New York, Paris, Berlin and London, came into contact with the Libyan diplomatic missions in those cities to provide consular and legal protection to our citizens.
The Serbian Mission in Geneva today contacted the International Committee of the Red Cross with the same request, and it was confirmed that the request will be immediately sent to their office in Tripoli, the statement added.
