Kostunica said in a written statement that the announcement of the special envoy that Republika Srpska might be abolished is particularly unacceptable since the Dayton Peace Accords guarantee peace and existence of Republika Srpska.
The Prime Minister said that Ashdown violated Annex 10 of the Dayton Accords as High Representative’s jurisdictions are “to coordinate the activities of the organisations and agencies” and that “the High Representative shall respect their autonomy within their spheres of operation”. The High Representative is not authorised to abolish institutions envisioned by the Dayton Accords, which primarily reflects to the two entities. By abolishing the entities, the Dayton Accords are being abolished, Kostunica said.
It has become clear that the measures of the High Representative resulted in a crisis not only in Republika Srpska, but in the whole of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kostunica said noting that serious concern was caused in Serbia-Montenegro too. Undemocratic and illegal measures of the High Representative are not in favour of regional stability, the Prime Minister stressed, adding that the Serbian government will keep on eying on the events in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
