Serbia, France to cooperate in fight against violence at sports events

Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic met yesterday in Paris with French Minister of Sports Chantal Jouanno to discuss the continuation of cooperation between the two countries in the fight against violence at sports events and doping in sport.
Samardzic-Markovic and Jouanno spoke about institutional cooperation, fight against doping, so-called match-fixing and betting and next steps in the fight against violence in sport.
An agreement was reached to try to change the European Convention on Spectator Violence and Misbehaviour at Sports Events of the Council of Europe (CoE) and we will soon inform the CoE about this joint initiative, the Minister said.
Jouanno said that she shares the views of the Serbian Minister of Sport regarding the fight against doping and combating violence in sport.
We can launch joint initiatives, she announced and expressed satisfaction that they had an opportunity to exchange opinions.
The occasion for this meeting was the initiative of the Serbian Ministry of Youth and Sport to amend the European Convention on Spectator Violence and Misbehaviour at Sports Events, which was presented by Minister Samardzic-Markovic at 1,095th meeting of the CoE Committee of Ministers on 13 October 2010 in Strasbourg.
