Initiative for hosting Japanese children in sports camps in Serbia

Minister of Youth and Sport Snezana Samardzic-Markovic and Japanese Ambassador to Serbia Toshio Tsunozaki talked today at the Palace of Serbia about the initiative for the arrival of Japanese children to Serbia.
A statement by the Ministry of Youth and Sport says that Samardzic-Markovic and Tsunozaki discussed the possibility of children from Japan coming to Serbia in summer sports camps, in the wake of a disastrous earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan.
Today we had the opportunity to jointly consider this very good and laudable initiative with which we want to express our solidarity and give the opportunity to children to meet each other, socialise and rejoice, the Minister of Youth and Sport said.
The Japanese Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Serbian people for the support it has given to the Japanese people in difficult times for this country.
After the major catastrophe that has befallen Japan we received many offers for help. Many Serbs and Serbian institutions have shown willingness to accept children from the quake-struck territory, Tsunozaki said.
The Serbian Minister of Youth and Sport and the Japanese Ambassador agreed that the sports cooperation between Serbia and Japan have always been at a high level and expressed confidence that it will be so in the future as well, it is added in the statement.
After the earthquake that hit Japan, the Ministry of Youth and Sport issued a recommendation to sports associations to pay respects for victims of earthquake and tsunami with a minute of silence and thus show their solidarity with the people of Japan.
