Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica talked today with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Kathleen Stephens about the situation in Kosovo-Metohija. The meeting was also attended by head of the Coordinating Centre for Kosovo-Metohija Nebojsa Covic.
Kostunica reiterated that it is necessary to support the Plan of the Serbian government so that the additional institutional guarantees for Serbs and non-Albanians in the province could be secured in the best way.
The Prime Minister said that it is very important that Belgrade be directly and equally included in talks on decentralisation. That is the best way to achieve progress in securing institutional guarantees which would improve the state of human rights in the province, especially for the Serbian community.
Meeting of international obligations and importance of cooperation of Serbia-Montenegro with the Hague tribunal was also discussed during the meeting.
