EC sends last set of additional questions to answers to Questionnaire

The EU Integration Office announced today that the European Commission (EC) has sent Serbia the last set of additional questions to the answers to the EC Questionaire in the field of political and economic criteria, the judiciary and fundamental rights, justice, freedom and security, and common foreign and security policy.
The statement adds that the EC sent 629 additional questions on 25 March mainly relating to the clarification of the information already classified according to negotiating chapters, but there are a number of esstentially new questions.
The answers to additional questions will be submitted to the EC before the end of the third week of April, or until the Easter holidays.
Additional questions can be downloaded from the website of the Office at www.seio.gov.rs.
Based on answers received from Serbia, as well as on the assessments by expert missions, and the results of current reforms, the Commission will make an opinion (Avis) on whether the country is ready for candidate status and whether it is ready to negotiate about joining the Union.
The publication of the opinion is expected on 12 October. To get the candidate status, it is necessary to have a positive opinion from the Commission unanimously supported by EU member states.
