Call for competition for projects to be financed by IPA funds

The EU Integration Office of the Serbian government and the Romanian Ministry of Regional Development and Tourism issued a second call for proposals of projects that will be financed through EU’s Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) funds as part of the Romania-Serbia IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme.

A statement by the EU Integration Office says that deadline for submitting proposals of the projects is 27 June 2011 and adds that EU has set aside €15.3 million for this call.

The areas of interest in which potential candidates can propose projects are economic and social development, environment protection and response in emergency situations which is primarily related to the EU Strategy for the Danube region, and the area of promoting the activities "people to people".

In order to be eligible, the organisations must be non-profit and non-governmental organisations or institutions, public companies or local and regional administration bodies. The project they are proposing should have a clear cross-border effect.

The amount of individual grants per project will range from €30,000 to €2 million, and EU co-finances the maximum of up to 85% of eligible costs.

The lead partner, whether in Serbia or Romania, can get up to 15% of the contract value as pre-financing from IPA funds.
