Matic presents project "Women in ICT" in Geneva

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society announced that Minister Jasna Matic yesterday presented the project of the Global Network of Women Decision Makers in ICT "Women in ICT" at the headquarters of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva.
The statement says that the centenary of International Women's Day was marked with the support of the UN and ITU with a panel discussion on women's position in IT and telecommunications industry titled: "Why do young women give up technology?".
This project was presented to world public two weeks ago at the UN, and was created with the idea of helping women achieve successful careers in ICT industry, strengthen the principles of gender equality in the area and promote ICT among women worldwide.
As one of the most important tools for the functioning of this network, Matic presented the internet portal www.witnet.org where members will be able to communicate and share information regardless of country of origin.
The global network of women decision makers in the ICT area was established in October 2010 at Matic’s initiative, following the adoption of ITU Resolution 70 at a conference in Guadalajara, Mexico.
