Speaking at the meeting of the ministry representatives dedicated to the analysis of results achieved last year and determining main goals for 2011, Dacic noted that the drug crime is one of the most common types of crime and that in 2010, 10 organised criminal groups were uncovered and 1.7 tons of narcotics seized.
Last year 35 criminal groups dealing with drug smuggling were uncovered and 192 people were arrested, he said and added that most drug crime groups engaged in selling heroin.
Speaking about organised financial crime, the First Deputy Prime Minister said that criminal charges were pressed against 179 members of organised crime groups, of whom 158 were arrested.
In 2010 the police worked intensively on suppressing all forms of corruption, he said and specified that 3,814 people were reported, which is the highest number in the last ten years.
The number of detected cases of corporate crime was by about 4.3% lower compared to 2009, Dacic stated, adding that 6,843 persons were reported who are charged with causing damage of about RSD 22 billion dinars and obtaining gains of RSD 20 billion.
In 2010, 100,401 criminal acts were committed in Serbia, which is 1,213 crimes less than in 2009.
During last year there were 114 homicides, which is 29 fewer than in 2009 and the number of attempted murders increased from 167 to 176, Dacic specified.
He said that 83.3% of murders with unknown perpetrators were cleared up, 90.2% of first-degree murders, 89.3% of attempted murders and 88.9% of cases of inflicting serious bodily injury.
In 2010 the number of vehicle thefts dropped, of which there were 3,297, and one third of these thefts was resolved, and the number of armed robberies dropped by more than 20% and 3,481 cases were recorded.
The reduction in overall crime rates was the highest in large cities, Dacic underlined and stated that there were 287 crimes less in Belgrade, 4% less Nis and 2% less in Kragujevac.
This is a relevant information since crimes in the territory of these three police departments make up 40% of the total crime in the country, Dacic specified.
As for the hi-tech crime, there were 46% more criminal acts, or 990 compared to 679 in 2009. Of the total number of these crimes 70% are cases of forgery and misuse of credit cards and the uncovering of these cases increased by 71% - from 410 to 700, the First Deputy Prime Minister said.
