Effective investigation into trafficking of human organs in Kosovo necessary

President of the National Council for Cooperation with the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) Rasim Ljajic and ICTY Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz agreed in Belgrade that it is necessary to carry out effective investigation into the trafficking in human organs in Kosovo-Metohija.
Ljajic and Brammertz discussed the case of trafficking in human organs in Kosovo-Metohija and the fate of 524 persons whose disappearance may be attributed to the "Kosovo Liberation Army".
They noted that this issue is of great importance and that effective investigations leading to the establishment of facts are necessary.
Cooperation between Serbia and the Prosecutor of the Tribunal in the delivery of documents, access to archives of state authorities and witnesses, as well as all other technical aspects of cooperation in the jurisdiction of the National Council for Cooperation with the ICTY is being carried out without any difficulty.
They noted that this issue is of great importance and that effective investigations leading to the establishment of facts are necessary.
