Serbian scientists “Rising Stars” third time in a row

The Ministry of Science and Technological Development stated today that according to a research by ScienceWatch.com, run by Thomson Reuters, Serbian scientists have been declared “Rising Stars” for the third time in a row, with the list being updated according to scientific quotations from various remits.
The statement adds that a huge step forward in terms of publishing scientific works in various remits has been made last January, while this year agricultural sciences will be included for the first time.
This time, our scientists have excelled in the following areas: agricultural sciences, biology and biochemistry, chemistry, clinical medicine, computer science, engineering, the science of materials, mathematics, neuroscience and behaviour, pharmacology and toxicology, physics and space science.
Of the total number of countries and more than 11,000 journals from 22 research areas, the ones that in the past two years were in the top half of the list are singled out.
From that list only 1,800 best articles are selected, which represents only 0.1% of all published articles during 24 months.
For the third time, Serbian scientists have been selected as the most cited in the famous Thomson Reuters list, which is why our country is once again named "Rising Stars".
Apart from Serbia, Pakistan gained the status of "Rising Stars" this year. More information can be found at: www.sciencewatch.com.
