Malovic to co-chair meeting of joint commission in Zagreb

Serbian Minister of Justice Snezana Malovic and Croatian Minister of Justice Drazen Bosnjakovic will chair on 12 January, in Zagreb, a meeting of the joint commission of the two countries to prepare and exchange lists of persons accused or convicted of war crimes.
In a statement the Ministry of Justice said that the meeting will discuss all outstanding issues, including recently arrested Tihomir Purda, a Croatian citizen, who is suspected of war crimes.
Malovic announced that intensifying cooperation of line ministries regarding issued arrest warrants will also be discussed.
I am sure that there is readiness on both sides to solve all problems as soon as possible, the Minister noted and pointed out that cooperation between Serbia and Croatia in the field of international legal aid is at an exceptionally high level and that it will remain so.
Trial of war crimes is Serbia and Croatia’s obligation on their path to the EU, she said and underlined that both countries has shown that it is not in their interest that perpetrators of war crimes remain unpunished.
Malovic said that it does not matter whose courts will try the accused, what matters is that no war criminals remain unpunished.
